Whether mixed with water or applied raw, it will not spare any slug it comes in contact with. The most important thing to note when using vinegar to get rid of slugs on hostas is to avoid the vinegar coming in contact with your hostas. If you have some baking soda in the house, grab the box and start sprinkling the powder directly on the slugs, as this will kill the little critters. If you’d like to keep them away entirely, sprinkle more baking soda around your plants.
Why do slug-like hostas
It’s especially not effective to perform this method if a large number of snails and slugs have gathered in your garden all at once. They’re not the prettiest creatures, and their smell is…well, let’s just say it’s unforgettable. If you love coffee, coffee grounds might be your best bet when it comes to protecting your plants and deterring slugs and snails.
Most home improvement or garden stores sell adhesive copper tape that you can conveniently use to surround your garden planters. These annoying critters crawling into your garden to destroy it and eat your food can be annoying and inconveniencing. Luckily, there are several different ways for you to get these snails and slugs out without risking harm or damage to your plant. Be sure to use the above methods exactly as described to make sure you’re doing whatever it takes to keep the critters out of your garden. This method also works on cabbage leaves as snails and slugs love to munch on this type of food as well.
Whenever you have a slug away from your plants, just take a pinch of salt and put it directly on the slug. The slug may start writhing around or making more slime, but that’s normal. Within a few minutes, the slug will dehydrate completely and die. After the slug dies, collect it in a bag so you can throw it away. Cornmeal is cheaper, but may not attract as many slugs. Put a tablespoon or two of cornmeal in a jar and lay it on its side.
Aside from the possibility of contracting diseases from them, they are quite destructive.
